Prism Analytics, a B2B business intelligence platform, was losing market share to simpler, more user-friendly competitors. Their tool was powerful but notoriously difficult to learn. We executed a complete UX overhaul, introducing "Natural Language Querying" and modular dashboards. The result was a 50% decrease in onboarding time and a 25% increase in enterprise contract renewals.

The Client

Prism provides enterprise-grade data visualization for logistics and supply chain companies.

  • Industry: B2B SaaS / Big Data

  • Location: San Francisco, CA

  • Key Feature: Real-time predictive modeling.

The Challenge: The "Data Scientist" Bottleneck

Prism’s platform was so complex that only trained data scientists could use it. Marketing and Operations managers—the people who actually needed the insights—had to wait days for reports.

  • User Frustration: "I just want to know how many units we sold in Q3, not write SQL code."

  • Churn Risk: key accounts were threatening to leave for tools like Tableau or Looker because their teams couldn't adopt Prism.

"Our backend is the Ferrari of data processing, but our frontend was a manual transmission that only a few people knew how to drive. We needed to make it automatic."Sarah Chen, CEO of Prism Analytics

The Solution: Democratizing Data

We shifted the focus from "power users" to "business users."

1. "Ask Prism" Search Bar We implemented an NLP (Natural Language Processing) search bar at the top of every dashboard. Users can now type questions like "Show me revenue by region for last month" or "Compare Q1 vs Q2 shipping costs," and Prism instantly generates the appropriate chart.

2. Drag-and-Drop Canvas We replaced rigid report templates with a flexible canvas. Users can drag data widgets, resize them, and pin them to their personal "Morning Brief" dashboard, making the data relevant to their specific role.

3. Smart Alerts Instead of forcing users to dig for anomalies, Prism now proactively alerts them. If shipping delays spike by 15%, the system sends a Slack notification with a pre-generated root-cause analysis.

The Results

  • 50% Faster Onboarding: New users can now build their first report in under 10 minutes, down from 2 hours of training.

  • High Adoption: Weekly Active Users (WAU) among non-technical staff increased by 200%.

  • Enterprise Expansion: Existing clients expanded their seat licenses because the tool became accessible to sales and marketing teams, not just IT.
