Echo Audio, a heritage brand known for high-fidelity home speakers, needed to break into the younger, mobile-first market. They partnered with us to launch "Echo Go," a companion app for their new line of portable smart speakers. By focusing on intuitive gesture controls and personalized soundscapes, we helped Echo Audio achieve 100,000 active users in the first month and a 4.8-star rating on the App Store.

The Client

Echo Audio has been a leader in audiophile-grade equipment since 1985.

  • Industry: Consumer Electronics / IoT

  • Location: Berlin, Germany

  • Target Audience: Audiophiles and Gen Z music lovers.

The Challenge: Great Hardware, Clunky Software

Echo Audio’s hardware was world-class, but their digital experience was lagging. Their existing app was utilitarian, buggy, and failed to reflect the premium nature of their physical products.

  • Disconnect: Users loved the speaker quality but hated the setup process.

  • Engagement: Once set up, users rarely opened the app again, missing out on advanced features like multi-room audio.

"We built a speaker that sounds like a concert hall, but our app felt like a remote control from the 90s. We needed a digital experience that was as fluid and emotional as the music itself."Klaus Weber, Head of Product at Echo Audio

The Solution: "Sound You Can Touch"

We reimagined the app as a visual extension of the sound.

1. Haptic EQ Interface We ditched the standard sliders for a fluid, XY-pad equalizer. Users can drag a "sound orb" around the screen to adjust bass and treble in real-time, with subtle haptic feedback that mimics the vibration of a speaker cone.

2. "Mood Match" Algorithm Instead of just genre playlists, we introduced "Mood Match." By analyzing the user's listening history and time of day, the app suggests lighting colors (for their connected smart lights) and audio presets to match the vibe—automated ambiance.

3. Proximity Pairing Leveraging UWB (Ultra-Wideband) technology, the app instantly detects the nearest speaker. As a user walks from the kitchen to the living room, the "Now Playing" interface automatically switches to control the nearest device without manual selection.

The Results

  • 3x Increase in Session Duration: Users are spending more time customizing their sound, turning the app into a daily utility.

  • 40% Reduction in Support Calls: The simplified, visual setup process virtually eliminated "connectivity" complaints.

  • Viral Design: The "Sound Orb" EQ interface became a trend on social media, driving organic brand awareness.
